Empowering Youth for Change
Key to Change is committed to addressing a critical need for music instruction in South King County. Over 80% of our students had never taken string lessons before Key to Change and had no access to other music activities beyond their public school orchestra programs.
Enrollment in our violin and viola studio grew by over 50% in the 2018/2019 Fiscal Year. As a result this year we expanded our program to a new trimester system, providing both group and private lessons twice per week. The new lesson curriculum features an increased emphasis on building key musicianship skills such as music theory, rhythm, ear training, and music literacy.
To guarantee financial stability for years to come, no matter what the economic climate is, we have created the Empowering Youth for Change Fund. This is a restricted fund housed at the Renton Regional Community Foundation to use on an as-needed basis.
This fund will go directly toward the following:
Take Action Now!
At this pivotal moment in our nonprofit’s future, we are asking the community to match our investment in our students’ growth and success. We aim to continue inspiring underserved youth through world-class music instruction and supporting their development as self-aware leaders for many years to come.
Donations contributed towards the Empowering Youth for Change Fund will make a long-term impact on the sustainability of Key to Change. Through your generous support we can continue to provide access to a range of programs, including group and private lessons, performance opportunities, college preparation, and scholarships. Your donation will also make a lasting impact to ensure that we continue to serve racially and economically diverse students in South King County.
